Sienna Automatic Door Problems??

Does it happen only with the remote? If so, then I would replace the battery.

There is a TSB out on adjusting the door cables, but most dealerships won't do it because if it gets too tight it will burn up the motor. Just let it go until it doesn't work anymore and then have the motor replaced.

hmmmm sounds electrical

thats the reason i will never buy automatic doors

you pay extra and have one more thing to break and they seem to do it often

I'm having the same problem- auto-open = ok. Auto-close = No go.

I'll try re-connecting the battery - great suggestion. I can't help but be a bit skeptical, I'm out to the garage as soon as I ask this:

Better life: What do you mean by the 'e board' ... is that hard to replace?

[Edit: No luck with the battery. Still only opens. FYI, I'm in a 2001 Sienna]

We had the same problem. Now the door cable broke.

Just turned in my end of lease '06 Sienna with 42K miles. The passenger side automatic door would not fully close. Nothig to do with the remotes. It stopped just short of the real of the door recessing and had to be pulled closed manually. I tried cleaning and lube but it just seemed tired. Maybe the cable as mentioned earlier was the issue. I traded it in that way.

We have owned Toyotas for nearly 15 years but after the door issues and the lack of accountability by Toyota in regards to the door issue, we will NEVER buy another Toyota again. After browsing the internet, it only takes a few key strokes to see that there are hundreds if not thousands of Toyota Sienna owners with door seizing malfunctioning issues. Both doors are now defective, motors are broken and the doors seize when the temps are below 30 degrees. We have 3 kids and they are forced to climb in through the front seats. Absolutely Ridiculous!! $1000 to fix each door! Toyota dealerships are making a killing off of the repair jobs and sticking to the working man. Spread the word, Toyota lacks integrity. This is our last Toyota!

A Google search of the Honda Odyssey will turn up massive complaints about its automatic doors, as will Nissan, etc. It's not unique to Toyota.

Please go to NHTSA website and file a official complaint. The only way to make Toyota accountable and listen to us. Charging $1800 for a sliding door repair. As they say Highway robbery.

Just posting on the forums is not going to do any good for us.
