New Brakes squeal

I had my dealer put all new pads on my 05 Highlander with 65k mikes on it. First time the brakes were changed on it. I only hear squealing when its cold and when the suv is dirty like with salt,etc........When I start driving the squealing goes away when I drive around for a few minutes, but its so loud that it concerns me.

More information needed:

1. Were the rotors turned before the new pads were installed?

2. Was anti-squeal compound applied to the back of the pads?

3. Were the brakes properly "burned-in" after the installation of the pads per

the manufacturer's instructions?

All of these steps need to be done for a proper pad replacement.

Take it back to dealer and have them redo or fix it so it does not squeal. Highlander brakes don't squeal as a rule unless something is honked up. Could be a number of minor things - you may need rotors turned or re-turned, perhaps new pads are defective, not properly bedded in, could be shims not greased, or maybe just needs some anti-squeal applied to shim/back of pad. You could try running a new brake pad bed in procedure yourself - google it and you can read how to do it. But I'd take it to the dealer first and tell them it squeaks bad when cold - they should fix it pretty easy as new brakes done right don't squeal.

1. Yes. Resurfaced

2. Not sure. I can ask. I would think so.

3. Dealer never talked about it. Weird

I've had recurring issues with brake squeal on my 2001 Highlander...last time I had them checked I found that one of the calipers in the back was sticking. I had it fixed but unfortunately I put a lot of uneven wear on the brake pads on that wheel...

Dealer says everything normal.

rotors turned. Paste applied. I live in very cold WI weather and the swuealing goes away as I start driving. Rust, salt,etc......Also causing it.
