Help Please, Spark Plug Problems

My son tried to change his plugs today in a 2008 XD. He pulled the coil pack and put a wrench with a couple extensions. He got it on the plug and began to turn but the plug seemed to just turn and turn without much force.

The socket is tight enough he cannot get the sockets or the extensions out. Why is the plug turning but doing nothing. If it is stripped then it came from the factory stripped.

I was thinking maybe he has used the wrong size socket but the socket fits the replacement socket. Any ideas?

What size socket did he use? Did he use a spark plug socked or a regular socket? Spark plug sockets are thin wall and are made for tight areas. Not all regular sockets are. Did you mean the socket fits the replacement plug?

Is there a reason he's changing the plugs? These plugs are good for 120,000 miles. You shouldn't need to change them yet, unless you drive for a living.

If the plug was stripped from the factory then the car would not have run properly so if it's stripped, its most likely because of your son.

From the sounds of it you'll either have to continue to try to get it out or take it(tow it) to the nearest repair facility and have it repaired properly.

maybe it's not pushed on far enough and spinning on the ceramic part of the plug.
