Don valley North Toyota - Toronto - Terrible

This is just a review of DVNT in Toronto, Canada.

Over the past few years I have tried to get the new graduate rebate which I am entitled to. It did not help that my sales person left a month after my purchase.

I have probably faxed in the application for the rebate 4-5 times and still have no received this rebate. Now they are telling me that the time has elapsed and they will not give me this rebate.

It also does not help that everytime I walk into Don Valley North Toyota, they ignore the hell out of you unless you are a customer ready to buy a car.

Serivce goes out the door as soon as you give them the money.

I do apologize for your situation, and as I said in pm to you in red flag deals I need your information to move forward in processing your request. Or, you can get to me directly by emailing robertk@dvntoyota.com.

I am confident we can get this sorted out.

1. They say they have Mechanics from Japan, big deal. They have 2. Personally, I'd trust a mechanic that has 25 years of experience with fixing Toyotas versus 2 mechanics they shipped from Japan on a work training exchange.

2. They flash this dumb ass coupon program that gives you various discounts to local businesses. Who gives a shit ? I'm here to buy a car. Besides, want to give a discount ? Start with the price of the car.

3. They show you their facilities and say it's state of the art. Okay, so what. If I'm here to get my car fixed, I don't care if the facilities are state of the art, I just want a clean bathroom and a place to get a coffee (Tim Hortons will do nicely).

4. I'm not sure how many times I told them I didn't care about 1-3 above.... guess Sales person just wanted to pitch the bullshit.

I figure I could get the same vehicle for 25% less easy anywhere else. Items 1-3 above just don't justify the 25% over market price.

My suggestion to Don Valley North Toyota is open your eyes to the current economy, car sales are way down.... it's a buyer's market, buyers are more educated now than ever with the internet and believe me they do their research.

Needless to say, I didn't buy a car from them.

Valerie,

My name is Robert Karbaum and I am the Internet Sales & Marketing Manager at Don Valley North Toyota. First and foremost I would like to thank you for expressing your comments. We pride ourselves on taking every opportunity to improve ourselves in the future, and your comments have been taken into consideration.

As you noted our dealership has a work exchange program with our parent company in Japan, which allows for Japanese trained technicians to work in our dealership. Currently we have nine Japanese technicians on our staff at many different levels of experience, including one Toyota Master Technician / Foreman (1 of 3 Foreman at Don Valley North Toyota) More importantly, we are a very multicultural business, and we have technicians from many backgrounds working in our service department. Together, they represent hundreds of years of experience working specifically with Toyota vehicles. I would also like to note that we have a very strong apprentice program to give people in our community an opportunity to get in to this business.

The coupon program you referred to, is much more than just coupons. Our Platinum Plus Rewards Program is exclusive to customers who purchase a vehicle from Don Valley North Toyota and offers countless incentives that add value to your car buying purchase. Without sounding too much like an advertisement, here are just a few of the many benefits: Earn $1,000 towards the purchase of your next vehicle, Earn 10% at every Service visit, Immediate Family Discount and Referral Bonus, 10% of all Accessory Purchases, 5$ of all Body Shop work, and much, much more.

In reference to our facilities being state of the art, yes we believe we have a dealership that has all the accommodations and technology to better serve our customers. However its our people that we feel is our most important asset and we continually are trying to ensure they provide the best service possible.

It appears that you were shopping for a pre-owned vehicle, and quite possibly you were interested in a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV). TCUV vehicles are set apart from a normal used vehicle for many reasons from a meticulous 127-point inspection to a free tank of gas and other great benefits. If you are comparing an AS-IS, or basic certified used vehicle to a TCUV, you will not be comparing apples to apples and therefore it is reflected in the asking price.

At the end of the day, it appears that we did not meet your expectations and we truly apologize for that, however if there is something we can still assist you on please do not hesitate to contact me directly. We will use your information to better ourselves for other customers (and hopefully you) in the future.

Have a great day Valerie.

Thank you Robert, my apologies if my original comments seemed harsh but I was being very blunt and wasn't expecting DVNT to comment. However I do have some additional comments to your comments. CAPITAL text are my responses so please don't consider this shouting in any way.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE TO MY COMMENTS. DON VALLEY NORTH TOYOTA GETS TOP MARKS FOR HIRING A MARKETING MANAGER THAT IS SAVVY ENOUGH TO SURF THE NET FOR NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND PROVIDE REBUTTALS IN HOPES OF SAVING THEIR REPUTATION/NEGATING ANY COMMENTS THAT MIGHT BE DEEMED NEGATIVE.

GOOD POINT. I BELIEVE I WAS TOLD THERE WERE 2 JAPANESE MECHANICS ON DUTY AT ANY GIVE TIME DURING SERVICE HOURS. BUT FOR MYSELF AND THE MAJORITY OF CAR OWNERS, WE JUST WANT IT FIXED RIGHT THE FIRST TIME REGARDLESS OF RACE, ETHICAL BACKGROUND ETC... I ALWAYS SAY INVEST LOCAL, HIRE LOCAL. WHEN YOU IMPORT LABOUR IT'S A BURDEN ON OUR SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE, SO I GUESS THAT MEANS THE CANADIAN PUBLIC IS PAYING FOR ANY MEDICAL TREATMENTS THEY RECEIVE WHILE THEY ARE HERE AS WELL AS OTHER SOCIAL SERVICES THEY MIGHT BE USING.

ACTUALLY IT IS A ADVERTISEMENT IN MY OPINION, BUT THAT'S OKAY. HERE IS A REBUTTAL FOR YOU TO THINK ABOUT- PROBLEM IS I'D HAVE TO LEVERAGE THE COUPON PROGRAM ALOT BEFORE I RECOVER ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO THE 25% OVER MARKET PRICE OF THE USED VEHICLE WHICH WOULD HAVE COME OUT TO ABOUT $6,000. BTW, $5 OFF BODY SHOP WORK ISN'T MUCH, MAYBE YOU SHOULD LEAVE THAT ONE OUT NEXT TIME YOU SNEAK A SELF PROMOTING ADVERTISEMENT IN A FORUM.

YES YOU DO HAVE THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WITH THE BEST LOOKING FACILITIES. I'M SURE YOU TRAIN THEM ALL TO PROVIDE THE BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE. I GUESS CHARGING 25% OVER MARKET PRICE OF A USED VEHICLE HELPS PAY FOR GREAT FACILITIES.

OKAY, HERE IS MY RESPONSE. IF I BUY A TCUV FROM ANY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IT WILL HAVE THE SAME 127-POINT INSPECTION, SO NO VALUE THERE BUYING IT FROM YOUR DEALERSHIP. A FREE TANK OF GAS DOES NOT JUSTIFY A 25% OVER MARKET PRICE OF A USED VEHICLE AND IF YOUR REFERRING TO THE COUPON PROGRAM, THAT'S BEEN COVERED ABOVE ALREADY.

YOU DIDN'T MEET MY EXPECTATIONS BUT PLEASE DON'T BE SORRY THE SALES PITCH THAT DVNT BURNS INTO THEIR SALE TEAM JUST DIDN'T MEET MY CRITERIA, THEY WERE PUSHING BENEFITS THAT HAD LITTLE VALUE TO ME ESPECIALLY IN A DOWNTURN ECONOMY.

Have a great day Valerie.

YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY TOO ROBERT AND THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR RESPONSE.

^ I was gonna say, I've read quite a few complaints about DVN Toyota. Seems weird...
